Being able to see
now in such short retrospect of how God was working is amazing! During my internal struggle and sorrow in the
couple of weeks following Jason's departure, He was working in Jason's heart
too. Shortly after arriving back in
Afghanistan, Jason put together a package to send to me. In it, he included a Mother's Day card. He writes:
"Mother's
Day is always going to special for me when it comes to you. I feel it's because of Mother's Day I got
your attention the first time with an email telling you how proud Steven must
be to have your for his mother. This
year I'm sending a card to say the same, but I'll add that I think our Chinese
daughter will be just as proud someday soon."
In a following
conversation, he told me this card was his revealing of his own self reflection
and prayer that reminded him what he wanted from our life together. We want to raise our children in the ways God
would have us to do. He said it doesn't
matter how those children come to be, if they are the ones chosen for us, that
is his biggest dream come true.
Now with my
husband's leading, we are able to continue to pray for clarity regarding the
other family and that we want the best path for the child. If that includes us, we will be thankful. If not, I continue to ask God to take the
burden for her from my heart if the other family is the best option.
